Asif Ali fined 20 % of match fee for swinging bat at Keemo Paul

Pakistan’s hard-hitting batsman Asif Ali has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee after swinging his bat in the direction of Keemo Paul during Jamaica Tallawahs’ Caribbean Premier League (CPL) win over Guyana Amazon Warriors.

During Tallawahs chase, Asif was dismissed for just three in the 8th over after top-edging off Paul straight into the hands of Chris Green at long-on.

The 28-year-old’s bizarre manner also shocked the commentators. After his actions, Paul once again turned and confronted Asif.

The incident was adjudged to have breached the CPL’s code of conduct. Ali has been charged under section 2.18 having been deemed to be “acting contrary to the spirit of the game”.
