Trinidad and Tobago: Pakistan’s hard-hitting batsman Asif Ali started his new season with a match-winning performance after he drove Jamaica Tallawahs to five-wickets victory against St Lucia Zouks.
Asif smashed 47 runs off 27 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes to help his team chase 159-runs target in second last over.
It must be noted here that Asif was playing his first match since March 2020 after which all cricket activities postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He last played for Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Sent into bat first, Zouks managed to score 158-7 in 20 overs. Roston Chase scored highest 52 runs off 42 balls to help his team reach a fighting total.
In reply, Glenn Phillips gave a good start to Tallawahs despite losing his partner earlier. He scored 44 runs off 29 balls laced with three boundaries and as many sixes.
