Asif Ali’s heroics takes Islamabad over victory line


Right-handed batsman Asif Ali singlehandedly done the job for Islamabad scoring 97 runs off 82 balls as they beat Karachi Regions White by two wickets in their sixth match of the National T20 Cup at Multan Stadium on Friday.

Asif stole the show hitting seven boundaries and five towering sixers which made the day of the crazy cricket fans in the stadium.

Karachi white while batting first posted 156-6 in 20 overs as Danish Aziz played a handy knock of 43 runs laced with six boundaries and a six.

Rameez Raja Jr scored at a time when his team needed the most. He scored 30 runs with the help of four boundaries.

Adeel Malik took two wickets and skipper Imad Wasim bagged one wicket for Islamabad.

In reply, Islamabad reached the target with two wickets in hand. Asif showed extremely powerful hitting which helped his team pull a win which seemed a bit difficult in the end for them. Ali Sarfraz scored 26 runs.

Mohammad Asghar bagged three wickets conceding 29 runs while Arshad Iqbal took two scalps for Karachi.

Rawalpindi defeated Multan by three wickets in another match of the day. Multan scored 152-6 while batting first. Sohaib Maqsood smashed unbeaten 75 runs spread over five boundaries and four maximums.

Mohammad Nawaz was the pick of the bowler for Rawalpindi as left-arm spinner took five wickets conceding 24 runs.

Rawalpindi in return chased the target with one ball to spare. Saud Shakeel was the highest scorer for them. Aamir Yamin bagged three wickets for Multan.
