‘Associate secretary must be a member of congress’ Naveed Alam


Former Olympian Naveed Alam said that the appointment of Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) associate secretary is against the federation’s laws.

Alam while talking to the media said that the according to the constituion of the PHF an associate secretary must be a member of the Congress.

“An associate secretary must be a member of the office,” he stated.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PHF’s president Khalid Sajjad Khokhar appointed Ayaz Mahmood as new associate secretary of the federation after the resignation of Shahbaz Ahmed Senior as secretary.

Alam claimed that some people have misguided the PHF’s president to make this decision a controversial.

“There are some people around Khokhar who are misguiding him,” said Alam.

He further said that Olympians should come forward with their plans for the betterment of hockey in the country.

On the other hand, the newly appointed associate secretary Ayaz Mahmood said that they will fulfill all the requirements for this post.

Mahmood while talking to the media said that he will work as PHF’s secretary till the appointment of the new secretary.

“I will serve the office till PHF appoint their new secretary,” he said.

Mahmood revealed that they will call the congress meeting soon in which they will discuss different matters running in the federation. The meeting is also expected to appoint the new secretary and team management.
