Australia have cancelled their tour of Bangladesh after security concerns and murder of one Italian citizen in Bangladesh. The kangaroos were bound to play a two test match series this October.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sunderland stated on Cricket Australia’s official website
” “After six days of extensive deliberations and research, we’ve come to the conclusion that we have no other alternative than to postpone our tour to Bangladesh,”
Although James did go on to say that we will re schedule the tour after having talks with the Bangladesh Board later after this security dilemma has been averted.
He said “In the end, all things considered, we’ve made this decision to postpone the tour for now and we’ll enter into discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board about when we can play this cricket series next.”
The Bangladesh board did say a day ago that they have done everything they can to provide full fletched security to the Australian team
“We have left no stone unturned in providing assurance regarding security for the Australian team,” Hassan said.
Let’s see how things move forward from here but considering the circumstances it is not likely that the tour will be rescheduled before a year as Australia and Bangladesh have a tight schedule ahead.
