Left-handed batsman Awais Zia is all set to make his debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) representing the most popular franchise of the league Karachi Kings which is also looking forward to his presence as the top-order batsman.
“It is my first time, experiencing such craze and enthusiasm regarding the PSL which gives us a whole month of entertainment,” said Zia while talking to the ARY Sports.
Zia, who has played five T20Is for Pakistan, is happy to be a part of Karachi Kings and looking forward to show his class in the upcoming episode of the league.
“Our team looks formidable having renowned players. I will try to make my presence feel in the tournament,” he said.
Zia added that he has played with most of the Karachi Kings players in past so there is good mutual understanding between them.
“I have played with Amir, Babar, Usman so all of us know each other well,” said Zia who also played under the leadership of Imad Wasim who will be captaining the Kings for the second time.
To a query about the team management’s plans for the upcoming event, Zia said that the coaches have encouraged them all and they have got full support from that side.
“Mangement is keen to send us strong on the field. They have planned things for us accordingly and we will try to come true on expectations,” said Zia who is confident for his team to show fight till the last moment.
The 32-year-old Zia called the PSL a great opportunity for youngsters to showcase their talent. He said that so far this league has found gems who represented Pakistan at international level.
“Such type of league was the need of the hour and now see it has become our identity,” said Zia.
