Hammad Azam and Mohammad Nawaz scored 37 runs each to help Rawalpindi clinch their fifth match against Peshawar by four wickets in National T20 Cup at Multan Stadium on Wednesday.
Nawaz took 30 balls while Azam played 20 balls to reach to their respective individual scores to help their team chase down the target with two balls to spare.
Peshawar while batting first scored 153 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 20 overs. Saad Ali scored 38-ball 46 runs with the help of four boundaries. Nabi Gul made 32 runs.
Abdul Rehman and Zahid Mansoor took one wicket each conceding 17 and and 29 runs respectively.
Rawalpindi in reply reached the target with the help of Azam and Nawaz who scored 74 runs together. Mohammad Mohsin and Waqas Maqsood bagged two wickets each.
In another match of the day, Islamabad lost to FATA by four runs in their fifth contest of the tournament.
FATA while batting first put 146-7 on the scoreboard. Kashif Bhatti with the help of six boundaries and a six scored valuable 34 runs for FATA. Samiullah Jr made 29 runs.
Ahmed Bashir took two wickets and Adeel Malik bagged a wicket for Imad Wasim led Islamabad.
In reply, Islamabad fell just four runs short as FATA bowlers shine all the way. Iftikhar Ahmed with 32 runs was the highest scorer for Islamabad. Skipper Imad scored 24 runs laced with two boundaries.
Mohammad Irfan Jr took three wickets while man-of-the-match Kashif Bhatti bagged a wickets conceding 14 runs.
On Thursday, Lahore Region Whites will meet Peshawar Region in their sixth match of the tournament while Lahore Region Blues will play FATA Region.
