Karachi: Pakistan’s new batting coach Younis Khan thinks that number one T20I batsman Babar Azam needs to improve a bit more to bring perfection.
Speaking to reporters via teleconference, Khan briefed about his plans of how to work with batsmen and utilize his experience in delivering quality tips to the youngsters. Meanwhile, the batting coach highlighted Babar, the white-ball format captain, and said that he needs some time to join the list of greats.
“My formula is simple which is to deliver whatever I have to the batsmen. My priority will be to educate youngsters about the game and make them strong enough to stand firm on and off the field,” he said.
“As far as Babar is concerned, so I think he needs some space. I have already said that comparing him to Virat Kohli was too early. Maybe after 5 years, he can be comparable with Virat but at this point in time, he needs some space. I hope he continues playing the way he does and then surpasses some of the greats such as Javed Miandad and Sachin Tendulkar,” he reiterated.
Khan is confident for his first assignment which is tour of England and assured that he will present himself for accountability if batsmen fail to perform there. “England tour is very important for me as well as for the team. Batting in English conditions is very tough and batsmen need to stay firm and fight till the last moment. I will try my best to prepare my batters strongly for the games,” he said.
