Lahore: Pakistan T20 captain and world number three ODI batsman Babar Azam has given a touching message for the fans and his teammates after getting picked in the ICC ODI Team of the year for the second time.
“I will reserve my biggest gratitude to my team-mates and fans as without their support this would not have been possible,” He said in a video released by PCB on their official youtube channel.
The 25-year-old had a great 2019 scoring 1,092 runs, at an average of 60.66 which included three centuries in 20 ODIs.
The champion batsman also thanked the ICC jury for praising him for the achievements for Pakistan in ODI cricket.
“I am thankful to the ICC and its jury for recognizing my achievements with the bat in 2019 and considering me worthy of a place in the side that includes some of my favorite cricketers who entertained the fans throughout the year with their outstanding performances,”
Babar added that these acknowledgments help cricketers to grow and play even better and he himself will also look forward to building on this milestone in 2020.
“These acknowledgments serve as additional incentives to cricketers to perform even better and continue to play their important part in further globalizing this great sport,”
“2020 has started well for Pakistan cricket and we as a team look forward to building on it so that at the end of the year, there are more of us when the ICC announces the next set of winners same time next year,”
ICC announced the ODI team of the year yesterday where Babar Azam was the only Pakistani selected in Test and ODI format of the year.
