Babar Azam can break ‘fab four’ and turn it into ‘famous five’: Alan Wilkins

Karachi: Renowned commentator and presenter Alan Wilkins thinks Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam can break into the ‘fab four’ of batsmen and make it the ‘famous five’.

The ‘fab four’ features India’s Virat Kohli, Australia’s Steve Smith, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, and England’s Joe Root.

“Babar Azam has got the eye and mentality to work out how to bat for a long period of time. He just now needs to bat and bat. He has every shot and knows what to do,” he said on Islamabad United’s YouTube channel.

“You talk Smith, Kohli, Williamson, and Root as ‘fab four’ but there is no reason that Babar could not make it and turn it into famous five. He has got the talent, technique and determination,” he added.

He also cautioned the 25-year-old of the upcoming challenges he will face as the captain and batsman.

“I think the next two years for Babar Azam is when he will be scrutinized. He has got to do it on the big stage. He is beautiful to watch. If you want to watch cricket played with panache, style and elegance then Babar Azam is right up there,” he added.
