Bangladesh avoids series loss, wins second ODI by a wicket against Pakistan


Bangladesh women chased the 211-run target with one wicket in hand in the second and last ODI against Pakistan women to avoid a series defeat at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Monday.

Fargana Hoque played an anchor role in Bangladesh’s win after an exciting contest. She played brilliantly by scoring 67 runs off 97 balls. Her inning included six boundaries.

While batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 210 runs in 48.4 overs. Opener Nahida Khan provided a solid opening stand to the green shirts by scoring 63 runs off 79 deliveries.

Skipper Bismah Maroof made 34 runs while Aliya Riaz scored 36 runs. Rumana Ahmed bagged three wickets while Salma Khatun took two wickets.

In reply, Bangladesh lost the early wicket of Sharmin Sultana but Murshida Khatun played well to lay a solid foundation for her team. She made 44 runs before getting out to Bisman.

Fargana supported Bangladesh’s inning in the middle-overs. Rumana Ahmed made 31. Syeda Aroob Shah and Bismah Maroof took two wickets each.
