Bangladesh beat Australia consecutively to go 2-0 up in T20I series


DHAKA: Afif Hossain scored 37 runs as Bangladesh stunned Australia in the second T20I and won it by five wickets to go 2-0 up in the five-matches series. 

Atif did his job well for Bangladesh as the hosts comfortably chased 122 runs in 18.4 overs.

While batting first after winning the toss, Australia managed to score 121-7 after Mitchell Marsh rescued them. The right-handed batter scored 45 runs off 42 balls with the help of five boundaries. Moises Henriques supported him strongly as they both scored 49 runs together.

Henriques scored 30 runs with the help of three boundaries and a six. Mitchell Starc scored handy 13 runs, in the end, to take Australia to 121-7.

Mustafizur Rahman bagged three wickets while Shoriful Islam took two wickets. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahedi Hasan shared a wicket apiece.

In reply, Bangladesh lost two early wickets for just 21 runs. Opener Mohammad Naim scored 9 and his partner Soumya Sarkar went out for naught. Shakib and Mahedi supported Bangladesh’s inning after two early blows and scored 37 runs together.

Shakib made 26 whereas Mahedi made 23. Atif (37*) and Nurul Hasan (22*) scored a match-winning 56 runs partnership to hand their team a consecutive victory over Australia.

Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye bagged a wicket each for Australia.
