Peshawar Zalmi were dealt a crucial blow when worlds best all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was ruled out of the PSL 3 edition with an injury.
The left-arm spinner is a two in one international player, having made his name at international level.
“It’s unfortunate that Shakib has been ruled out but we now have Sabbir in the squad, said team head coach Mohammad Akram.
Akram, however, hoped West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo recovers in time to get to play a few matches for Zalmi.
Bravo suffered an injury during the Big Bash in Australia earlier this month.
Zalmi will defend their PSL title after winning the second edition in March in Lahore.
