Pakistan’s women team head coach, Basit Ali allegedly slapped former international cricketer Mahmood Hamid on criticising the performance of women’s team on a private TV channel, ARY News reported.
The incident took place when SNGPL and SSGC were playing a game of domestic ODI tournament in National Stadium Karachi when the Basit, who is also the head coach of SNGPL, showed his aggression to Hamid the on the unjust criticism over women’s team and eventually slapped him.
On the other hand, Mahmood Hamid told that it is his right to criticise the poor performance of Pakistan’s women team and if he does not agree with his analysis then he should sit with him on television and convince him.
Meanwhile Basit Ali has denied the accusation of slapping Hamid.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman talked to the media on this issue and said that they will not tolerate these kind of acts.
“We will not condone any physical violence on anyone’s part,” he said. “Whether it is provoked or on criticism or even on getting abused,” he added.
“There is no place for physical violence,” PCB boss put it straight.
“We will inquire the incident and will listen to both the parties and then we will give verdict. It will take 3 to 4 days,” he further said.
