Basit Ali given charge of women’s cricket team selection

Basit Ali

On Wednesday, PCB announced Basit Ali to lead the selection committee for the series against New Zealand, while Mark Coles has been appointed as Pakistan women’s cricket coach.

Over the past few weeks, the Pakistan women’s team has gone through some remarkable upsets that causes PCB to make multiple changes in the squad.

Meanwhile, Sana Mir has been replaced as captain of Pakistan women’s team in the 50-over format. Bismah Maroof, who already leads the team in T20s, will take over as captain of the ODI team as well.

“This will be an interim arrangement necessitated by paucity of time in putting in place a permanent selection committee for women’s cricket,” said by PCB.

Pakistan will play three One-Day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand starting from October 25 in Sharjah.

The three ODIs will be part of the ICC Women’s World Championship that’ll go on till 2021 and will decide the four teams that’ll earn direct qualification for the next World Cup
