The secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Shahbaz Ahmed said that he will easily present Pakistan’s initiative in the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) as he is now the member of its executive committee.
Shahbaz while talking to the media said that it is an honor for him to represent Pakistan at International forum where he can put country’s point of view over different matters.
“I am glad to be a part of FIH and now will try to present Pakistan’s point of view there,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shahbaz on November 4 got elected as the member of FIH’s executive board alongside Dr. Michael Green (Germany), Maureen Craig-Rousseau (Trinidad & Tobago) and Elizabeth Sofoa King (Ghana).
On the other hand, Shahbaz said that the team’s training camp is all set to begin within two days ahead of the World cup which scheduled from November 28 to December 14 in India.
“The Camp got delayed due to some reasons but now it will start as soon as possible,” he said.
The former Olympian appealed to the government to release funds for the federation so that they can facilitate the players in the upcoming mega event.
He was quick to add that they have also contacted the ministry for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) to help them save the national game of Pakistan.
“I would like to request the government to release fund for us to help us resume our activities,” he said.
To a query regarding the replacement of coach, he said that the federation is on one page to appoint former Olympian Tauqeer Dar as new head coach.
“Most probably Tauqeer will be the new head coach and we will officially announce it soon,” he said.
