Rising young all rounder Bilal Asif has been retained in Pakistan’s ODI squad for the three match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board the recommendation was made by the team management to include him in the ODI side as Pakistan’s Test match skipper Misbah ul haq wanted to see how he goes against Zimbabwe. This will help them assess his bowling credentials. If he is up to the mark then he might be included in the test squad against England as his off spinners might trouble the English side which is packed with left hand batsmen.
All the members of the selection committee and Head coach Waqar Younis agreed unanimously. The Press release stated :-
“The suggestion was discussed by the selectors, as well as with Head Coach Waqar Younis, and there was unanimity of view on the issue.”
Bilal Asif has played 11 first class matches and 20 T20s for his local side Sialkot. He is yet to make his debut in any format for Pakistan. This might well turn out to be a big opportunity for Bilal because if he gets his chance this would be a perfect moment for him to announce himself on the international stage.
