Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Bismah Maroof believes that his girls are ready to roar against South Africa and continue their winning streak in ODIs.
“We last won ODI series against West Indies convincingly. The girls are pumped up and looking forward to taking on away challenge against the Protease,” said Bismah while speaking to the media at National Stadium Karachi on Sunday prior to their departure for South Africa.
Bismah said that South Africa are strong in all three departments and it is not an easy task to overcome them easily in their home conditions. “The protease are a strong side and we need to remain positive while playing against them,” said Bismah.
The skipper is confident that his girls have prepared hard and will give stiff competition to the hosts in their ICC Women’s Championship fixture.
“We are training for almost a month. During this time period, we focused on our batting, bowling, and fielding and tried to overcome weaknesses,” said Bismah while adding that fitness was their top priority during the training camp.
To a query about power-hitting, Bismah said that they have tried to give roles to the players according to their strength and hopes that each player will fulfill her job. “If you talk about power-hitting, then we have Aliya Riaz, Nida Dar, and Erum Javed,” said Bismah.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan will play five T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa from May 6.
