Frontliners Amir, Imad, Babar drive Karachi Kings to PSL 5 final


Karachi: Mohammad Amir defended 14 runs in Super Over to take Karachi Kings to PSL 5 final here at National Stadium. 

Ravi Bopara and Rilee Rossouw batted for Sultans in one-over Eliminator but Amir was on top without conceding a boundary. Rutherford Sherfane struck a boundary and a six off Sohail Tanvir to help Kings post 13 runs in Super Over.

Earlier, Imad Wasim smashed a boundary on the last ball to level the scores. The left-handed batsman took charge of the team after Babar Azam went out. He scored 27 off 16 balls with the help of two boundaries and a six.

Babar scored the highest 65 off 53 balls to lay down a solid foundation for Kings to qualify for PSL final for first time ever.

Taking charge of his team after Sharjeel Khan’s departure for a total of 19 runs, Babar partnered with Alex Hales (22) to score 42 runs together. Babar struck five boundaries and two sixes while Hales smashed four boundaries.

Iftikhar Ahmed made 13 runs off 12 balls with the help of a boundary.

For Sultans, Sohail bagged three wickets while Shahid Afridi and Imran Tahir shared a wicket apiece.

Sent into bat first, Ravi Bopara scored 40 off 31 balls to rescue Multan Sultans to 141-7 in important Qualifier contest.

Sohail with the help of a boundary and two back-to-back sixes to Wayne Parnell helped Sultans’ score race forward. He scored 25 runs off 13 balls to remain the second-highest scorer from Sultans.

Sultans were under pressure after losing 4 wickets for just 40 runs with Kings’ bowlers dominating.

Bopara partnered with Khushdil Shah to rescue Multans as they scored 40 runs together before Khushdil fell to Arshad Iqbal after scoring 17 runs. Bopara struck three boundaries and a six.

Waqas Maqsood and Arshad Iqbal bagged two wickets for Kings while Imad Wasim took a wicket.
