Boucher hints at AB de Villiers comeback in international cricket

Centurion: South Africa head coach Mark Boucher has hinted at AB de Villiers’s possible international comeback ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The former South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman has also revealed the conversation he had with De Villiers ahead of the IPL 2021.

Boucher stated that the conversation was ‘still very much open’ and he will communicate with de Villiers again very soon.

“I did chat to him before he went to the IPL. The conversation is still very much open. AB being the person he is, he wanted to perform very well at the IPL, to prove to himself and everyone else that he is still a very key figure in world cricket and could dominate at that level,” Boucher told reporters yesterday.

“I said to him: ‘go do your thing, and I’ll give you a shout towards the back end of the IPL.’ So that is where we are with him,” Boucher added.

De Villiers, announced his retirement from international cricket in May 2018 has been playing franchise cricket all over the World. The 37-year-old is in the news for his return to competitive cricket last year before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
