Pakistani Boxer Muhammad Waseem will take on South African Moruti Mthalane in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight world title on July 15 in Malaysia.
Mthalane, who has 35 wins against two losses, is rated No 3, while Waseem is fifth in the IBF’s flyweight ranks.
The fight was initially ordered as a title eliminator to produce Nietes’ mandatory challenger but now will be for the vacant title.
Earlier Waseem was looking to fight WBC world title holder Japan’s Daigo Higa, however, due to the lack of financial support, Waseem had to let go and in return, he was stripped off of his WBC silver weight champion title and lost his top ranking at the WBC too.
This is the first time that any Pakistani boxer will fight for IBF world title.
