ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi condemned India’s threats to foreign players which lead to their withdrawal from the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
In a statement, FM Qureshi said he can’t understand why India is afraid of KPL. “I can’t understand, why India is afraid of KPL. It is just proof of normal activities in Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir,” he said.
“I strongly condemn Indian pressure to foreign players to not play in KPL. It will only decrease their stature and cost nothing to Pakistan,” he shared.
The minister urged International Cricket Council (ICC) to take notice of India’s threats to foreign players to withdraw from KPL. “ICC should take notice of this matter. India can also stage such a league in Kashmir, who has stopped them,” he said.
FM Qureshi is hopeful for KPL to provide a solid platform to players of Kashmir. “KPL is a positive step towards unearthing talented players in the Kashmir region. We all should promote KPL,” he concluded.
