Central Punjab crowned champions of 2nd XI National T20 cup


Lahore: Central Punjab (CP) have won the 2nd XI National T20 Cup title after topping the league table.

CP defeated Northern by seven wickets in the last league match played at Gaddafi stadium. CP chased the target of 134 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Junaid Ali remained unbeaten as he played an inning of 66.

CP won four matches out of four, leading them to eight points. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Southern Punjab and Sindh secured 6 points each. Balochistan finished at fifth while defending champions Northern didn’t win a single match and finished last.

Balochistan’s 17-year-old Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Southern Punjab’s Zain Abbas, and Central Punjab’s Mohammad Akhlaq finished as the top three run-getters with 235 at 47, 193 at 96.50, and 185 at 61.67 respectively.

They will now feature for first XI sides in the second leg of the tournament in the second leg, slated to start from tomorrow.

Four bowlers took eight wickets each. Central Punjab’s Waqas Maqsood and Kamran Afzal, KP’s Sameen Gul, Northern’s Athar Mehmood were the top four bowlers.
