A double-century by Umar Akmal and a well made 99 by Zafar Gohar has extended Central Punjab dominance in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy final at National Stadium in Karachi against Northern.
Central Punjab continued to increase their overnight lead of 212 and ended up declaring the side on a mammoth score of 675-8 with a lead of 421.
Umar Akmal (218) scored the second double-century of his first-class career. From the start of the Day, he continued to play his shots, his innings included 20 fours and eight massive sixes.
He was brilliantly partnered by Zafar Gohar who was just one run short of making his second first-class hundred. Both of them added 225 runs for the sixth wicket.
Just like yesterday, it was a hard day for the Northern bowlers. Skipper Nauman Ali, Mohammad Musa, and Faizan Riaz all claimed two wickets each.
Northern openers in their second innings started to chase the total sensibly until off-spinner Bilal Asif struck Zeeshan Malik(38) on the score of 38. Just before the stumps on Day 3, Faheem Ashraf dismissed Umar Amin for 17. Haider Ali(50) and Faizan Riaz who is yet to open his account will commence the play on Monday.
