Chadimal, Tharanga miss out as Sri Lanka announce WC squad


The Sri Lanka Cricket has announced 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup, penciled in from May 30 to July 16 in England and Wales.

Dimuth Karunaratne, 30, will lead the men in blue for the first time in the mega event as senior guns and former captains Dinesh Chandimal and Upul Tharanga failed to get the ticket for the UK.

The 15-member squad include Dimuth Karunaratne, Avishka Fernando, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dhanajaya de Silva, Jeffrey Vandersay, Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga, Isuru Udana, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep, Jeevan Mendis, Milinda Siriwardana.

Sri Lanka to face Scotland in two ODIsĀ on May 18 and 21 while they will play South Africa and Australia in warm-up matches before taking on New Zealand in the World Cup on June 1.
