Dhaka: Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo is confident that they can defeat Pakistan in T20Is in their upcoming tour of Pakistan starting from January 24 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
While talking to reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday, Domingo expressed that they defeated India in one T20 in India, so they can beat Pakistan too. “We defeated India in one T20 played in India, so we can defeat Pakistan too,” he said.
Domingo said that it is unfortunate to see some of the coaches decided to withdraw themselves from the Pakistan tour but he has no problem visiting and see the cricket culture over there.
He wants players to focus on cricket rather than security because Pakistan is the number one team in Pakistan.
“The focus will be on the game beyond security, I will go to Pakistan for the first time with confidence, Pakistan is the number one team in T20 and will try to perform well in those conditions,” he added.
“It is Mushfiqur’s personal decision not to tour Pakistan but if he was there in the side, the team would have been much stronger,” Domingo on Mushfiqur Rahim who decided to skip the Pakistan tour.
The South African born knows that the return of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik has strengthened the Pakistan side but it was surprising to see the exclusion of experienced pace bowler Mohammad Amir.
It must be noted here Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan in three different phases. They will come to Pakistan in the first phase to play three T20Is on January 24, 25 and 27 respectively in Lahore.
They will come back to Rawalpindi to play the first Test of two matches series from February 7-11. The last phase of the tour is scheduled in April in Karachi. Bangladesh will play only ODI on April 3 and the last Test from April 5-9.
