KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has inaugurated a cricket stadium named after former Pakistan Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi in Khyber Agency on Thursday.
“An honour [and] privilege to inaugurate stadium in Khyber Agency with COAS Raheel Sharif. You are Pakistan’s hero and my hero too,” Afridi said in a statement released on his Twitter account.
“I am humbled [and] thank [you] from bottom of my heart for your kind support [and] backing for me [and] for your work for Pakistan. You are a national hero and I wish you the very best in your days ahead. May Allah Bless you more. Pakistan Zindabad.”
Earlier this month, General Raheel also inaugurated a state-of-the-art Younis Khan Sports Complex in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
