Comilla Victorians won the third edition of the Bangladesh Premier League last night and fittingly as well because they were the best team of the tournament during the entire event.
In the final played on Tuesday the Victorians won the toss and elected to field first against their opponents Barisal Bulls. The Barisal Bulls posted 156 runs in the first innings at the expense of 4 wickets. Shahariyar Nafees scored 44 runs while Mahmudullah scored 48 runs. Ashar Zaidi, the Pakistani all rounder, was impressive once again with the bowl and took one wicket for 26 runs in a economical 4 over spell.
The Comilla Victorians went about the target in comfortable fashion but regular loss of wickets made the chase difficult. They needed 13 runs off the last over and at this point the veteran stepped it up and smacked Mohammad Sami for two fours in the overs and took the Victorians to victory. Kapali remained not out on 39 runs off 28 balls with the help of five fours.
Alok Kapali was declared man of the match while Ashar Zaidi was handed the man of the series trophy for his 215 runs and 17 wickets during the tournament.
