The secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Shahbaz Senior said that all the congress members are on one page to boost the domestic infrastructure for hockey in the country.
“All the congress members suggested PHF to mend domestic infrastructure. I think it is good thinking as by doing this we will get things right for us,” he said.
Shahbaz said that the PHF has also decided to conduct player development programs to provide ample opportunities to young players which in return will give Pakistan quality players.
“Player development program is included in our future plans. It will play an important role for us to bring talented players in limelight,” he said.
Former Olympian believes that Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will look to lift the status of the national game.
“We know that Khan is busy in other matters but we hope that he will call a meeting to overview hockey’s status whenever gets time,” said Shahbaz who is ready to implement government’s plan for the betterment of hockey.
Answering to a question regarding Khokar’s presence in the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) as vice-president, Shahbaz said that Pakistan will now put its initiative in a strong manner at Asian level.
“Khokhar as vice-president of AHF will benefit Pakistan’s hockey,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the president of PHF Khalid Sajjad Khokhar is the newly elected president of AHF.
