In the second match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at Basseterre.
The Warriors won the toss and decided to bowl first and their decision paid dividends as Lendl Simmons was dismissed for a duck in the very first over by the experienced Pakistani pacer Sohail Tanvir. The Patriots were struggling at 4/54 in the 10th over but at this stage Hodge and Thomas cinched a good partnership and helped thier team to a decent total of 164 run. The duo each scored 38 runs each.
Pakistan’s left hand fast medium bowler Sohail Tanvir was the pick of the bowlers with figured of 4/20 in his full quota of four overs. Australian Adam Zampa picked up three wickets as well.
In reply the Warriors got off to a great start in the run chase and their openers Martin Guptill Dwayne Smith added 62 runs for the first wicket. Smith was particularly explosive as he smacked the Patriots bowlers to all parts of the ground. He was eventually dismissed for 62 runs off just 36 balls which included five massive sixes.
Although the chasing side lost their way a bit in the middle due to loss of few quick wickets but they were still able to chase down the total on the penultimate ball of the match. Smith was adjourned man of the match for his blistering knock upfront for the Warriors.
