Six cricket associations announced squads for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21


Karachi: All six cricket associations have announced the squads for the upcoming Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21, scheduled to start from October 25.

The opening round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will be played across three venues in Karachi (National Stadium, UBL Sports Complex and NBP Sports Complex). The teams will practice on Friday and Saturday.

Pakistan men’s team and Shaheens squads to depart for New Zealand on 23 November, therefore, the players will be able to feature in the first three rounds of the competition.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Shehzad and Hasan Ali are included in Central Punjab’s squad after they missed the recently concluded National T20 Cup due to injuries.

Fast bowler Akif Javed has not been included in Balochistan’s squad as he is currently recovering from the knee injury he sustained during the National T20 Cup.

Southern Punjab’s pacer Rahat Ali is also unavailable for the first three rounds of the tournament due to family commitments.

The defending champions Central Punjab will be led by Azhar Ali while Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead Sindh. Southern Punjab will be captained by Test opener Shan Masood.

Last year’s runners-up Northern, will continue to be led by Nauman Ali, who was the highest wicket-taker in the edition with 54 scalps in 10 matches.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be led by Ashfaq Ahmed, who was his KP’s highest run-getter in the 2019-event with 805 runs at an average of 67+.

Balochistan will be captained by Yasir Shah in the absence of Haris Sohail, who will be busy with the National team. Bismillah Khan will be Yasir’s deputy.
