Fakhar Zaman made an impactful One Day International debut against a strong South African side and it made cricket greats question where this talented batsman was hiding.
Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against the arch-rivals by 124 runs with D/L methods, critiques scrapped every possibility of Pakistan’s comeback in the tournament seeing their unimpressive approach.
However, Pakistani bowling destroyed South African solid batting line in their next game. When it came to chasing a moderate target of 220 runs, the debutante Fakhar Zaman showed his teammates how it is done.
The former Pakistan Navy sailor went all guns blazing not holding his shots back. His intentions were clear that he is out there for a purpose. Against the World‘s top ODI bowler, Kagiso Rabada, Zaman played fearlessly and put Proteas under pressure.
His 31 runs off 23 deliveries with the help of six boundaries were crucial in the context of the game that shifted the momentum in Pakistan’s favour.
Seeing the 26-year old play, New Zealand and England’s cricket legends were stunned.
Former New Zealand captain, Stephen Fleming questioned where this talent was hiding.
