‘Cricketers’ online fitness Test will keep them in flow’ – PCB

Lahore: National cricketers’ fitness can’t be compromised hence they will give fitness Tests online despite nationwide lockdown, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement.

National team’s strength and conditioning coach, Yasir Malik, clarified that they planned fitness tests while keeping in mind the available resources all cricketers have at their home.

“We have already sent the fitness test plan to the cricketers and it had been made after keeping in mind the feasibility of all the players,” he said in a video.

Malik stressed that cricketers should do training at home otherwise all the hard work they put in the last six to seven months would go in vain. “We are taking this online Test just to make sure whether all the players have maintained their fitness or not. See, we don’t want to put our efforts in vain by waiting for the resumption of cricket once the current situation gets better. What we can do is to utilize this time to guide players more on their fitness so that they can come stronger when cricket resumes,” Malik maintained.

It must be noted here that the PCB faced immense criticism after they announced to take Fitness Tests online amid nationwide lockdown situation.

Test plan

The test plan includes 60 push-ups in one minute, 50 sit-ups in one minute, 10 complete chin-ups in a single attempt, 30 burpees in one minute, bodyweight Bulgarian squats (25 each side), 2.5-meter standing broad jump, reverse plan for 2 minutes and YoYo Test (Benchmark:18 points).
