The Indian opening batsman was a major contributor of Indian cricket until 2011 and also played a match winning 97 run knock in the final of the World Cup that year. Although he found it tough to keep his place in the side secured but with over 10,000 international runs he is very much part of Indian cricketing history.
The formidable Sri Lankan opening batsman made a name for himself in the shorter formats of cricket and also had a signature shot ‘Dilscoop’ which bamboozled the bowlers bowling at him. His retirement from international cricket has left a vacuum which will take some time to fill.
