KARACHI: Pakistan’s professional cueist Hamza Akbar had to return home after his visa for the United Kingdom was expired, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
Akbar had been residing in the UK for over two years and was representing Pakistan in professional snooker events held across Europe.
Due to his expiry of visa, Akbar has already missed participation in Scottish Open and German Open. Akbar says he will request for a renewal of his visa so that he is eligible to seek participation in China Open 2017.
Earlier, Akbar told BBC that he is waiting for a large cash reward promised to him by the country’s sports minister for winning last year’s Asian Games Championships.
Akbar says he was told that he had been sent the money, but months after coming to the UK for training and taking part in competitions he claims he is yet to receive it.
