Karachi: Former West Indian captain Darren Sammy will receive honorary citizenship on March 23rd, the president of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi confirmed on Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sammy will also receive the highest civilian award from president Alvi for his invaluable contribution to the way to revive international cricket in the country.
“President Alvi will confer the highest civilian award and honorary citizenship to Darren Sammy on 23 March for his invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan,” PCB said in a statement.

He will become the first cricketer to get this honor. He has been an integral part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the last five years.
It must be noted that he was the first overseas player to reach Pakistan for the fifth edition of PSL.
