Karachi: Test cricketer Shan Masood hopes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will arrange a window for departmental cricket as departments played an important role in nurturing cricketers.
Speaking to reporters via teleconference, Masood said that he learned a lot while representing departments. He thinks that departments played an important role in domestic cricket.
“Departmental cricket had played an important role in Pakistan’s domestic cricket. It has polished many youngsters like me who have learnt a lot under stalwarts,” he said. “The PCB, I am hearing, is looking for a window to introduce a separate competition among departmental outfits and I would welcome it,” he added.
It must be noted here that last year PCB shut departments and introduced revamped domestic structure based on six regions. The decision faced immense criticism among cricket fraternity as many players and officials lost their jobs.
