‘Departments played important role in Pakistan’s cricket’ says Mohsin Khan


Pakistan’s former Test captain Mohsin Hasan Khan said that departmental cricket has played an important role in Pakistan’s cricket.

“Departments are very important in our domestic infrastructure,” said Mohsin while commenting on the issue regarding dissolving departmental cricket.

The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s cricket committee said that he will have a meeting with the board’s chairman Ehsan Mani in which they are likely to discuss the issue regarding departmental cricket.

“I don’t know exactly what is going on in the board. I am going to meet Mr. chairman soon and then I can comment anything on this issue,” said Mohsin while adding that he will surely put his point of view in front of Mani regarding departmental cricket.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Patron-in-Chief of the PCB Imran Khan advised the board’s management to frame a domestic structure based on just regions.

This decision hit headlines and departments started thinking to dissolve their cricket teams. A renowned department the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) finished their cricket team which made players like Imam-ul-Haq, Junaid Khan and Fakhar Zaman unemployed.

Mohsin, a former chief selector and coach of Pakistan cricket team, is confident that the board has some strong planning for the future of Pakistan’s cricket.

“Pakistan is our first priority and I am sure every decision will be taken in favor of Pakistan’s cricket,” he said.

While answering to a question about Pakistan’s World Cup combination, Mohsin said that the selected squad is capable of achieving big. “Pakistan’s current bunch is a combination of experienced and young players but they need to be mentally strong to win a tournament like World Cup,” he concluded.
