India’s former captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is known for his exceptional match finishing skills, has revealed Shoaib Akhtar as the toughest bowler he has faced in his entire career.
MS Dhoni, who has a glittering career with every major ICC trophy under his belt as a captain, has been one of the most prolific batsmen since he made his international debut. In his 453 international games, he has faced the likes of spin wizards such as Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. He has also faced deadly accurate bowlers like Glenn McGrath, but he rates the fastest bowler of all time as the toughest he has ever faced.
“All the fast bowlers are quite difficult, with the limited technique I had, it was very difficult to face the fast bowlers,” said MS Dhoni during a charity dinner hosted by Virat Kohli. “Still, if I had to pick one, I would pick Shoaib Akhtar,” he added.
Dhoni gives a simple reason for calling Rawalpindi Express the toughest that he was quick and he could bowl any length.
“Very simple reason: he was quick, he was fast, he could bowl a yorker, he could bowl a bouncer but you never expected a beamer,” Dhoni said. “He was a bit unpredictable (but) he was fun to play against,” he further told.
