JOHANNESBURG: Mohammad Rizwan once again proved himself a right option to open from Pakistan, leading the green shirts to four-wicket victory against South Africa in the T20I series opener.
While sharing his experience of playing as an opener, Rizwan said it is difficult but he tries to fulfill the role given by team management. “It is difficult but I am enjoying this new role and alhamdulillah scoring runs as well,” he said.
“I have always left this decision on the team management. Wherever they think I can be handy for them, they can use me and I will try to perform,” he added.
Rizwan said opening the T20I series with a win was a morale booster for the entire team. “Win is always good and it increases confidence, especially when you win first match of the series. It was an important match for us and I think all players played their role quite well to win this contest,” he said.
The right-handed batsman especially praised Faheem Ashraf for supporting him in the run-chase and also bowlers who tightened the flow of runs in the last five overs.
“Faheem struck crucial runs for us and supported and relaxed me from the other end. Our bowlers also bowled well and restricted the opponents in the last part of the first inning,” concluded man-of-the-match.
