MONTE CARLO: World number one Novak Djokovic won his fourth tournament of the year as he defeated Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych in a three-set thriller 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to lift the Monte Carlo Masters, ARYSports. tv reports.
Djokovic broke early in the third set to take control and then held serve throughout the frame to beat Berdych in a championship decider.
Djokovic opened his 2015 trophy account by winning his fifth Australian . He went on to win the Master titles at Indian Wells and Miami.
He also became the first player to win the opening three Masters 1000 tournaments of the season.
Berdych has not won a Masters championship since 2005 in Paris. This was his third loss in a championship final this year.
