Karachi: Former Pakistan pacer Tanvir Ahmed has heavily criticized national team’ head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq and termed the selected team for England tour his personal household team.
While speaking on his Youtube channel, the 41-year-old asked Misbah why the most consistent performer of domestic cricket, Tabish Khan was not selected and why he wants Wahab Riaz to be part of the Test side despite his unwillingness to play the longer format.
“Where is Tabish Khan? Why he isn’t included? Can’t you see his performances? Were you (Misbah) also selected on the basis of connections or performances?” he questioned.
“Is this your personal team? Wahab has said no but you are continuously asking him to play. You are begging him to play and asking him to please play Tests for us. If Wahab is not in the Test side would it destroy the team? What kind of a chief selector are you?” Tanvir added.
He also added that selecting Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik are the signs of favoritism in the team.
“Now look at their conditions, both of them are not in PCB’s central contract and I said this in the past that Misbah was going to play favorites and reward his friends, this shows you the favoritism in the side,” he added.
“He has confirmed that despite having no performances on England from the duo, they will play in the World Cup,” he maintained.
Tanvir identified the players who received injustice and also mocked Misbah on selecting Faheem Ashraf and termed him as Ben Stokes of Pakistan.
“I was so shocked that Asif Ali is not in the 29-member squad. Others who received injustice were Aamer Yamin, Amad Butt along with Tabish. Butt and Yamin are two of the best all-rounders in domestic cricket. Yes they selected Faheem aka Stokes and his performances and average as an all-rounder is clearly visible,” he added.
“This is all because of connections. The above-mentioned performers that don’t have these connections are left out,” he maintained.
