‘Don’t want to become 15-20 balls player’ Azam shares fitness goals

LAHORE: Hard-hitting batsman Azam Khan said he is putting everything to meet required fitness standards to take his place in the national squad.

He told reporters on the sidelines of his training session here on Friday that he has lost 5kgs of his weight in just 10 days. “Yes, I have lost weight and working really hard to meet required fitness standards. It is tough but I am feeling quite fitter now,” he said.

Sharing his bond with his father and former Test cricketer Moin Khan, Azam said he has been the biggest critic of him. “Father has a very important role in your life. He [Moin] has always taught me about this game as he has 15-20 years of cricket experience. I always say, he is the biggest critic of me and I think this is why I am here today,” he highlighted.

Meanwhile, Azam said he has set short goals to meet fitness targets and NHPC coaches are helping him a lot. “I am trying my level best to learn as much as I can from the NHPC coaches. It is an honor for that such bug names are taking out time for me,

“I am working really hard here. Also, I am following proper diet and nutrition which will help me gain more fitness,” concluded Azam.
