Lahore: Right-arm medium pacer Ehsan Adil six wickets helped Pakistan Shaheens to a five-wicket win over Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in the only fifty-over fixture at Aitchison College Ground.
Ehsan took six wickets for just 34 runs as MCC managed 204 for nine in 50 overs. The right-arm pacer struck in the third over-claimed the prized scalp of Kumar Sangakkara, the MCC captain, in the seventh over to leave the MCC side stumbling at 23 for two.
Will Rhodes (27) and Ross Whitely(51) gave MCC a momentum by giving a 68-run stand for the fourth-wicket but again Ehsan dismissed Rhodes and broke the vital partnership.
Roelof van der Merwe played till the end of the inning and was not out on 47 from 79 balls. including two fours.
Shaheens in reply lost their opener Zeeshan Malik in the first over but was rescued by a 43-run partnership for the second-wicket between Omair Bin Yousaf (25) and Rohail Nazir (20).
Imran Rafiq and Hasan Mohsin added 91-run for fifth-wicket as Shaheens chased down a 205-run target with 30 balls spare. Imran and Hasan posted unbeaten scores of 66 and 49, respectively.
The MCC will now play Northern, the domestic T20 champions in a 20-over contest at the Aitchison College Ground on Monday and Multan Sultans on Wednesday.
It must be noted that MCC outclassed Lahore Qalandars on Friday by four wickets at Gaddafi Stadium.
