Wales star player Gareth Bale has broken a 58-year old record as his side thumped Russia by a margin of 3-0 in the final group stage match in group B of Euro 2016.
Bale scored yet another goal against the Russian side which meant that he has now scored three goals in as many matches of this year’s mega event. He overtook Ivor Allchurch as the top goal scorer in major finals for Wales and that too in quick time. Earlier Ivor Allchurch was the highest goal scorer with two goals which both came in the 1958 World Cup. In doing so Bale also became the first player since Milan Baros and Ruud van Nistelrooy to score in the first three matches of the European Championships.
The expectations were high from Wales and especially Bale when the tournament first began and it’s safe to say that the Real Madrid player has done his reputation no harm whatsoever. Bale’s good performance in all three matches has ensured that the Wales side qualified for the round of 16 as table toppers which is no mean feat especially considering that England were also in their group.
