Every batsman is a threat in T20 format – Mohammad Amir

Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Mohammad Amir believes that every batsman in T20 format is dangerous and bowlers have to back their skillset to restrict them from scoring.

“Every batsman is a threat in T20 format,” Mohammad Amir said while talking to ARY Sports. “Batsmen only have their bats lifted and looking to score boundaries wherever they can,” he added.

“I always believe that 90% of the T20 format is in batsmen favor, so I always look to back my skillset in limited overs cricket, especially ODIs,” he told ARY Sports. “In T20 cricket, you have to use your variations,” he shared his mantra for success.

Talking about the thought of playing the final of the PSL 2018 in Karachi in Karachi Kings’ colors, he believes it will a victory for the whole nation not just Karachiites.

“First of all if Karachi hosts the final it is a victory for Pakistan,” he said.“It will be a huge achievement for Pakistan first and then it will be a win for people of Karachi. After a long time, Karachiites will see cricketing stars in action.”

Mohammad Amir is looking forward to playing under Imad Wasim’s captaincy and he rates him high as the leader.

“I have been playing under his captaincy since U-19, the best thing about him [Imad Wasim] is that he is aggressive and I like his attitude towards the game,” he said. “I hope it will benefit Karachi Kings,” he added.

Amir feels that Karachi Kings is lucky to have a coaching staff which is working with Pakistan’s national side and also a bunch of players who are playing together in the national team.

“There are three to four players who are together in Pakistan team, me, Babar [Azam], Imad [Wasim] and then there is [bowling coach] Azhar Mehmood and [head coach] Mickey [Arthur], it is a combination that working for the last two years, it will work well for Karachi Kings,” he told ARY Sports.

“In T20 cricket, team combination is extremely important, sooner it forms, better it is as big names do not matter in this format, rather the right combination is essential,” he went on to say. “It is a blessing that we already have a combination of five or six people working together from the national side as well.”

Karachi Kings have to pick a replacement for their expected key bowler, Mitchell Johnson who pulled out of the PSL, but still, they have a decent bowling attack.

“We still have a decent bowling combination,” he stated. “There is Tymal Mills, myself, Imad [Wasim] Shahid Bhai and Usama. I think we still have a very good bowling attack once again,” he further added.

“Shahid Bhai, Imad Wasim, and Tymal Mills all are T20 specialists, I do not think there will be any issue in our bowling department,” he said.
