Faizan Riaz smashed 211 runs off 200 balls to help Northern put a composed total of 396-8 against Sindh on Day 1 of round seven in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at National Stadium, Karachi.
With the help of 27 boundaries and nine sixes, Faizan stole the limelight for Northern. His splendid inning supported the contributions of other teammates.
Ali Sarfraz made 60 runs for Northern while right-handed batsman Hammad Azam scored 50 runs. Shoaib Ahmed contributed 49 runs off 74 balls.
From Sindh, Sohail Khan and Mir Hamza bagged three wickets each.
The match between Baluchistan and Central Punjab (CP) at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore was called off due to bad light. Baluchistan reached 232-2 at stumps. Imran Butt (77*) and Imran Farhat (30*) will resume the inning for Baluchistan on Day 2.
In the third match of the seventh round, Southern Punjab (SP) posted 243-5 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) at stumps on Day 2. Sami Aslam (38) and Umar Siddiq (88) provided a solid opening stand to their team. They put 91 runs together.
