Fakhar Zaman aims next year’s T20 World Cup

Left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman is confident to improve his performance and make his place in Pakistan’s squad for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.

Following continuous failures during the last few months, Zaman has started a rebuilding phase while working on his weak points while playing domestic cricket. He is currently representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the eighth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

“I know what it feels when you fail to fulfill your role in the team. But it happens, every cricketer faces such situations. I hope I will be able to get out of this time and gain my form back,” he said.

Zaman has scored just 50 runs in his last eight T20I matches during the last 12 months. The hard-hitting batsman faced immense criticism over such a performance by the critics and cricket fans in the country.

Responding to this situation, Zaman said that it is concerning for him that fans are not happy with his performance. “In the end, our performance matters for the fans. I know my recent performances were not up to the mark but I am working on my weaknesses and I hope you will see a different me very soon,” he maintained.

It must be noted here that Zaman has represented Pakistan in three Tests, 46 ODIs and 34 T20Is since his ODI debut in Champions Trophy 2017.
