KARACHI: Left-handed batsman Fawad Alam became the only Asian batsman to convert his first four Test scores of 50-plus into hundreds.

Since his comeback in international cricket after a gap of almost 10 years, Fawad has scored three centuries against New Zealand, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. His last century against Zimbabwe also made him the only sixth batter in the world to convert his first four Test scores of 50-plus into hundreds.

Previously, it was done by George Headley, Everton Weekes, Neil Harvey, Peter Parfitt and John Edrich. The great Headley is the only batter in cricket history who converted all his first six 50-plus scores in Tests to centuries followed by Weekes who scored five hundreds in a row.

It is pertinent to mention here that Fawad made his Test debut in 2009 and scored a hundred in his debut Test. He was dropped after a couple of matches and had to wait for 10 years to once again play Test cricket. He made his Test comeback against England in 2020.
