Fawad Alam's ton gives Sindh an edge over KPK

KARACHI: Sindh’s left-handed middle-order batsman, Fawad Alam scored a courageous century on just 138 deliveries to take his team to a big total of 476/9 dec. on the Day second of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy game against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a game played at UBL Sports Complex, Sindh were 368/9 when Fawad Alam joined hands with the no.11 batsman Mir Hamza and had a fighting 108-run partnership, where the tailender showed great resilience with 15 runs off 126 balls.

As Alam reached his ton, skipper Asad Shafiq decided to declare the inning. Adil Amin remained the pick of the bowler for KPK with a five-for, while Sameen Gul and Zohaib Khan took three and one wicket respectively.

In response to Sindh’s massive total on the board, KPK had a disastrous start, where they lost both of their openers, Sahibzada Farhan and Israrullah, on an aggregate score of 5 runs.

Ashfaq Ahmed and Adil Amin rescued the sinking batting line of KPK and are still at the crease with 28 and 63 runs against their names respectively.

In another game of the QeA Trophy, Balochistan posted a mammoth total of 500 against Southern Punjab, courtesy of Azeem Ghumman’s 163 and Imran Farhat’s 117 runs, while Ammad Butt also scoring a half-century.

Southern Punjab’s Mohammad Irfan picked a five-for, whereas Bilawal Bhatti took two, Mohammad Abbas and Rahat Ali took one wicket apiece.

In response, Southern Punjab are three wickets down for 161 runs. Umer Siddiq and Imran Rafiq are holding the inning together with 67 and 56 runs respectively. Balochistan’s Umar Gul and Yasir Shah have hunted one batsman each so far.

In the game in progress between Northern and Central Punjab, the latter are ruling the contest by dismissing the opponents for just 114 runs against their 433 runs and imposed the follow on.

Zafar Gohar and Ehsan Adil shined for Central Punjab with four and three wickets respectively, while Bilal Asif and Naseem Shah struck twice and once respectively.
